Sense of Scents

So much emphasis the past few years has been put on staying scent free. This is just another high-tech way to avoid being detected by the whitetail. Scents: Making Some Sense With Scents

Sense of Scents
Whitetail deer have one of the most sensitive noses in the animal kingdom. Researchers tell us that not only can deer smell odors at much lower levels than humans but they can discriminate between many odors in a mixture. That is how they identify each other, communicate and check for danger. Bears on the other hand use their nose actively to also look for food. One of the more effective tools a bowhunter can utilize is the application of scents to deceive animals into bow range. Scents are typically used either as an attractant, a cover or both. These scents can be in the form of a spray, liquid, gel or even impregnated in a solid wafer.
